The Quantum Universe Graduate School 2027, taking place from 3 to 6 June 2027 in Avellino, Italy, is an advanced training event dedicated primarily to PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scientists working in fundamental physics.
The School is designed to provide participants with a broad and interdisciplinary introduction to some of the most important open problems in modern theoretical and experimental physics. Its scientific programme will explore the connections between particle physics, gravitation, cosmology, quantum field theory, astrophysics, and related areas, with particular attention to dark matter and dark energy, quantum gravity, neutrino physics, fundamental symmetries, and physics beyond the Standard Model.
A central objective of the School is to help young researchers develop a common scientific language across fields that are often studied separately. Many of the major questions in fundamental physics require combining theoretical models, phenomenological analyses, experimental results, and astrophysical and cosmological observations. The lectures will therefore emphasize not only the technical foundations of each subject, but also the conceptual links between different research areas.
The programme will consist of pedagogical lecture courses delivered by internationally recognized experts. The lectures will be structured to introduce the main theoretical ideas, current observational and experimental constraints, open questions, and promising directions for future research. Whenever possible, the courses will also include methodological discussions, concrete examples, and tools that participants may apply in their own research.
Particular attention will be given to interaction between lecturers and participants. Dedicated discussion sessions, informal exchanges, and opportunities for scientific networking will allow students and early-career researchers to ask questions, clarify technical aspects, and discuss their own research interests with leading specialists.
The School aims not simply to provide a sequence of specialized lectures, but to create an environment in which young scientists can broaden their perspective, establish new connections between different topics, and identify possible directions for future collaborations. It is especially suited to researchers who wish to complement their specific expertise with a wider understanding of the theoretical and observational challenges shaping contemporary fundamental physics.
